After the success of nChain’s first Bitcoin Masterclasses in London in January, the monthly series led by nChain Chief Scientist and Bitcoin Creator Dr. Craig Wright continues with its second installment in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on February 22 and 23.
For those who missed the first Masterclass, the focus was Identity and Privacy. You can watch the Day One and Day Two sessions on demand or even just the highlights for an idea of what to expect in Ljubljana, both in terms of format and quality of content.
Next week’s Bitcoin Masterclasses will focus on Multicast and IP2IP, which will include plenty of discussion surrounding IPv6 and how Dr. Wright envisions the protocol interacting with Bitcoin.
“IPv6 is the underlying protocol that will completely change the way that nodes communicate with each other—and will enable pure peer-to-peer transactions—without going through any internet router,” Dr. Wright explained to me.
“IPv6 is the killer app for Bitcoin, and multicasting is a killer feature in IPv6, so I believe that this is really important for people to understand,” he added.
Dr. Wright’s primary goal in Ljubljana is to help attendees better understand Bitcoin, Multicasting, and IP to IP. To do so, he encourages everyone to bring their questions and participate in the group discussion.
“The Masterclasses are intended to teach people how Bitcoin works, to work through problems and scenarios, and answer audience questions. I want to make people think about all of the opportunities that Bitcoin offers for them,” Dr. Wright said.
“I would have liked more questions and interactions [during the first Masterclass], but I am sure that as people get more comfortable with the Masterclass format, we will get more questions and interactions,” he said.
While it is naturally not possible for all interested parties to travel to Slovenia for next week’s Masterclasses, in-person attendance is highly encouraged so attendees can actively participate in the discussion and interact individually with Dr. Wright during the breaks.
The event is free to attend, both in-person and online, and will take place from 9:30-16:30 local time on both days. In session, we cover the basic constructs and networking foundations concerning both IPv6 and the use of multicast. This will incorporate a variety of topics, including efficient sending.
This will incorporate one-to-many and many-to-many network communication formats.

Q&A/Breakout: 11:20-11:30
Session 2: 11:30-12:30 Multicast, broadcast, unicast, and anycast
In this session, we look at the integration of different types of traffic distribution services.
This will include reliable message protocol systems, object management groups, data distribution services, and pragmatic general multicast.
Other topics will include explicit unicast (XCast) and distribution trees. Other topics for the session include peer casting.

Session 3: 13:30-14:30 Wallets and overlay services
In this session, we detail how multicast and related traffic types can be integrated into bitcoin wallets and create versioned datasets and information that is limited to selected broadcast or multicast. In this, specialist nodes can send to selected types of services and versioned data.

The workshop class will develop solutions based on what they have learned so far.

This session will investigate redundancy and secured sending, including the integration of micropayment-based transaction paths.

In this session, we put together all of the different technologies and develop ideas around how to use these with Bitcoin.
