Amity Foundation Joins in National Reading in Metaverse

The faith-based Amity Foundation was invited to participate in the Ceremony of National Reading in the Metaverse.

During the ceremony held at the Netease Yaotai Kepler Space Station on April 22, many sci-fi authors and technology experts gathered online in the “Metaverse” on the occasion of “World Reading Day,” which falls on April 23. According to the foundation, they exchanged thoughts and ideas about the metaverse and the future potential impact of AI on reading.

The participants were able to attend virtually by creating exclusive avatars on the space station. During the lecture entitled “Reading Classes in Ethnic Minority Rural Schools in the Future,” which was presented at the roundtable forum session with the theme of “Open Discussion on Multiple Fields of Reading,” Tang Chuanfang, the director of the Amity Torch program, introduced the reading classes that were conducted by the foundation in ethnic minority rural schools, as well as the construction of multi-functional rooms and the situation of teacher training. Tang also shared how minority culture could be disseminated and inherited through reading and technology.

To enable more young people to experience the joy of reading and sightseeing in “space,” the foundation also arranged for the beneficiary students of the “Future Engineer Program” to participate in this activity online.
