Man City player Rúben Dias heads into metaverse with OKX

Crypto exchange OKX has introduced a fan experience within the metaverse that offers supporters a glimpse into the lives of Manchester City player Rúben Dias.

OKX, which is also sponsoring City’s training kit, has previously enlisted Dias alongside Jack Grealish, Ilkay Gundogan, and Alex Greenwood as its brand ambassadors to help take the interest of fans.

Today, OKX launches ‘Train Like Dias’ as part of ‘OKX Collective’ immersive metaverse fan experience to enable participants to virtually engage with Dias’ preferred training methods and receive coaching tips. They will be also treated to special experiences designed around the player, including his playing style and personal interests, as well as music and NFT-based digital experiences.

With crypto exchanges now seeking to embrace the metaverse as a fresh avenue for fan engagement, the availability of perks and content from the Premier League club’s top footballers will play a crucial role in shaping this experience.

Rúben Dias said: “The OKX Collective is a unique way to bring fan interactions to the next level. Through the metaverse, we can give fans across the globe a glimpse into how I prepare for matchday and maybe how they can improve their own game.”

Haider Rafique, Global Chief Marketing Officer at OKX, said: “The possibilities that Web3 can offer are vast and only limited by our own imaginations. The way “Train Like Días” brings Rúben and his fans closer together is another great example of what this technology allows. The OKX Collective is just getting started, and we can’t wait to reveal what Alex Greenwood, Ilkay Gündoğan and Jack Grealish have in store for fans later this season.”

Soccer giant Manchester City signed its curious partnership deal with OKX, a Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange, back in March 2022. OKX was named by City as the “Club’s Official Cryptocurrency Exchange Partner” as part of a commercial expansion by the Premier League champions. The deal marks OKX’s first venture into the world of sport and entertainment.

The OKX deal came a few months after Manchester City suspended their partnership with a mysterious cryptocurrency startup called 3Key Technologies. In the wake of media reports, the English football club halted the sponsorship agreement, which was announced but not activated in respect of any specific products or services, due to 3Key’s lack of online presence.
