Immutable launches Immutable zkEVM mainnet for blockchain gaming

Immutable, aiming to be the vanguard of blockchain gaming, has launched early access for its Immutable zkEVM Mainnet, powered by Polygon.

This effort is aimed at giving players more control over their digital assets and ower transactions costs.

The Immutable zkEVM Mainnet is a dedicated chain for games. It seamlessly integrates Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility, low transaction costs, massive scaling capabilities, and enterprise-grade security. This technological marvel merges zero knowledge (zk) rollup technology with the Ethereum ecosystem, offering access to Immutable’s complete suite of gaming products.

A number of Web3 games including Guild of Guardians, Metalcore, Shardbound, Treeverse, Cool Cats, BADMAD Robots, Space Nation, Eyeball Games, Imaginary Ones and many more, are set to be among the first to embrace the advantages of Immutable zkEVM.

Robbie Ferguson, president of Immutable, said in a statement, “The launch of Immutable zkEVM is a milestone moment for the industry. This is a chain built exclusively for gamers and gaming studios, offering everything a targeted gaming audience could ask for.”

Immutable zkEVM is tailored for the requirements of gaming, optimizing for scale, speed, and native user experiences. Unlike general-purpose chains, Immutable said the Immutable zkEVM is designed to eliminate friction, high transaction costs, and latency, providing an ecosystem where games can thrive. The platform boasts partnerships across game development, distribution, marketing, marketplaces, analytics, and more, creating an all-encompassing hub for game studios.

In contrast to traditional chains, Immutable zkEVM simplifies development for game studios by offering preset smart contract templates, ensuring a straightforward and secure path to deployment. The platform also introduces gas-free functionality for gamers using Immutable Passport, removing the hurdle of gas fees from the player experience.

The Immutable zkEVM Mainnet is now live and in early access mode, with a Mainnet deployer allowlist to ensure smooth operations and user safety. During this phase, select game studios and ecosystem partners will have exclusive access.

Developers can sign up for the waitlist in the Immutable Developer Hub to get included on the deployer allowlist. However, developers can start building on the Mainnet immediately using Immutable’s preset smart contract templates. Full access to Immutable zkEVM Testnet is also available for developers.
