Novel tactic sees DPRK cybercriminals use stolen credentials to generate tokens before transferring them out of reach
North Korean cybercriminals stole over $1.2 million from an online platform for blockchain projects on Wednesday in a campaign targeting cryptocurrency developers, showcasing a seemingly new tactic of generating virtual funds from scratch before stealing them.
Seedify, a launchpad for gaming, decentralized finance, artificial intelligence, big data and non-fungible token services, announced after the attack that “a DPRK state-affiliated group known for many hacks in Web3” had minted a large amount of unauthorized cryptocurrency tokens after gaining access to a developer’s private wallet keys.
