Peet’s Coffee locations in Solana Beach and Rancho Bernardo are apparently among the chain’s closures this week.

The coffee chain, founded in Berkeley in 1966, announced several closures planned by the end of January, including in Southern California. Employees had said that the Solana Beach and Rancho Bernardo stores were among the planned closures by Friday, Jan. 30. As of Friday, both locations’ Yelp and Google pages listed their hours as closed Monday through Friday, with a closing time of 2 p.m. Jan. 30. Peet’s corporate website had already removed the stores from its list as well.

The Solana Beach location, at the corner of Cedros Avenue and Lomas Santa Fe Drive, opened in May 2013.

Peet’s closures come in the midst of a corporate transition, according to news reports. Keurig Dr Pepper announced plans to purchase the company in 2025. The closures drew criticism on social media from unionized employees in Berkeley who said they were not properly notified of the closures.

The local coffeeshops’ addresses were 125 Lomas Santa Fe Drive in at the Cedros Design District in Solana Beach and 11922 Bernardo Plaza Drive at Rancho Bernardo Town Center.
