What’s next for CCP Games’ blockchain survival MMO EVE Frontier? We’re glad you asked because the devs have come together to share a roadmap livestream that answers that question, and we suspect you don’t necessarily have a full hour to listen to them all talk about it, so here’s a summary.
The roadmap updates are centered around several “pillars” of focus including core gameplay, base building, and character identity. Much of the focus at the start of the stream was around core gameplay updates, which include manual control of turrets for more precision aiming, more active scanning across the system map and in space that’s described as being submarine-like, modular ship pieces that let players effectively put together their own vessel, and improvements for object collision.
In the base building section of the presentation, CCP offers a first draft of how the system is looking: Basically players will be able to drop and maneuver base piece blueprints in space to plan out a base layout, then drop materials into those blueprints to begin construction, including the option for friends to deposit materials as well. Base buildings will also be modular like ships will be for further customization, and the devs further confirmed that there will be base upkeep requirements.
Additional features being worked on include some more refined AI behaviors for enemy NPCs, 3-D models for character clone bodies along with new animations, the promise of more improvements to missions, and the ability to decorate those clones with distinct cosmetic skins. If you do happen to have a full hour to yourself, the complete broadcast waits below.
