Vietnam will prioritize immediate development and deployment of six products, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), 5G network, and Blockchain-tracking application and digital assets, the Ministry of Science and Technology said at a Tuesday meeting on strategic technologies.
The others are Large Language Models (LLMs) & virtual assistants in Vietnamese, edge AI cameras, and autonomous mobile robots.
The six products are part of Vietnam’s larger development strategy for 11 technologies and 35 products. The prioritized focus on six products aims to develop commercial items for socio-economic development and defense-security.
The goal is to “highly” master the technologies for six products by 2030, with a high rate of localization, in order to utilize made-in-Vietnam goods and reduce the portion of imported goods, toward Vietnam exporting such goods. The ministry will sponsor businesses and institutions to conduct research & development; and will make requests to businesses and organizations to carry out research, development, deployment, and product transfer.
Municipal Departments of Science and Technology for Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Danang, Hue, Can Tho affirmed that they have begun making development plans for those products. The focus is on AI-power cameras for traffic surveillance, UAVs for construction surveillance and agriculture, LLM & virtual assistants.
Ministries noted their demands for AI cameras, UAV, robots, and virtual assistant for management.
