The Miss Universe 2023 contestant from El Salvador, Alejandra Guajardo, just shut down the competition by showcasing the most bad-ass national costume of the night – featuring the king of crypto, BITCOIN! That’s right, El Salvador has officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender and has passed a new regulatory framework for the issuance of its long-awaited bitcoin-backed Volcano bonds.

Guajardo walked onto the stage in the 71st Miss Universe National Costume Show wearing a costume representing “the evolution of the Salvadoran currency,” designed by Francisco Guerrero. The outfit featured cacao beans, the colón, the U.S. dollar, and the Bitcoin symbol, highlighting the country’s currency journey.

El Salvador made history in September 2021 by becoming the first country to make bitcoin legal tender alongside the U.S. dollar. Since then, the pro-bitcoin president Nayib Bukele has purchased thousands of BTC for the country’s treasury and announced plans to buy bitcoin every day.

This week, the Salvadoran legislative assembly passed the digital asset issuance law that includes a new regulatory framework for the issuance of bitcoin-backed Volcano bonds. This move paves the way for the highly-anticipated Volcano token issuance, with Bitfinex set to be the technology provider for the nation’s new token.

BOLD, BRAZEN and BITCOIN – that’s El Salvador, and Miss Universe 2023 contestant Alejandra Guajardo, who just proved that crypto is the future of currency and fashion. Keep it locked here at Brazen Crypto for all the latest on this revolutionary development.
