Mount Clemens man with GPS tether attacks ex flees police

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) — Prosecutors levied a number of charges against a Mount Clemens man Friday, after he allegedly hid in his ex-girlfriend’s car, attacked her and fled from police — all while wearing a GPS tether connected to an upcoming trial for four unrelated felonies.

Dana Prieskorn, 35, was bound over for trial from Mount Clemens District Court on four felony charges on Monday. As a condition of his release after making bail, the defendant was required to wear a GPS tether.

Already in hot water, Prieskorn allegedly racked up several more charges after leaving court, starting with entering his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle and hiding in the trunk.

When the woman left work for the day, she got in her car and noticed that some items had been moved. She got out and opened the rear driver’s-side door to investigate.

Prieskorn — still in the trunk area — grabbed her and tried to pull her into the vehicle. The woman was able to escape and the defendant left with her cell phone.

On Wednesday, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, along with U.S. Marshals, tracked Prieskorn to a storage facility in Chesterfield Township using his GPS tether.

Authorities say the defendant drove off when he saw officers approaching. During his alleged getaway, Prieskorn was driving on 26 Mile in Chesterfield Township, at which point he struck a K-9 SUV, sending it into a ditch and rolling his own truck in the process.

Law enforcement arrested Prieskorn without further incident.

The K-9 deputy had minor injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

Between the two incidents, the defendant now stands accused of the following crimes:

— attempted unlawful imprisonment
— larceny of more than $200, less than $1,000
— domestic violence
— fleeing and eluding a police officer
— assault with a dangerous weapon

The charges are split between the two cities where the encounters occurred, and Prieskorn was arraigned in both on Friday. His bonds were set at $250,000 in Mount Clemens and $100,000 in New Baltimore. He is not to have any contact with his victim if released.

“This man is a violent threat to society and his actions show a total disregard for life and the law,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido.

Lucido also thanked the sheriff’s department, Chesterfield PD and the U.S. Marshals for their help in apprehending Prieskorn.
