With the rapid development of global supply chain networks, traditional supply chain management faces challenges such as insufficient traceability, poor data security, and low operational efficiency. Blockchain technology (BCT) has shown great potential in solving traceability issues of distributed systems, and integrating it with intelligent systems is expected to further enhance the security, transparency, and reliability of supply chains. However, existing research lacks practical solutions that comprehensively combine blockchain with intelligent agents to address dynamic and multi-tier traceability needs in supply chains.
Therefore, Satyananda SWAIN and Manas Ranjan PATRA from the Department of Computer Science, Berhampur University, India, have conducted a research entitled “Constructing an Intelligent Agent-Centric Framework for Supply Chain Traceability with Blockchain Integration”.
This study proposes a supply chain traceability framework that covers comprehensive workflow tracking and control, considering both internal and external traceability perspectives. The framework adopts an intelligent software-agent-oriented approach and integrates blockchain technology, with a multi-agent system (MAS) as the core to oversee and monitor blockchain-powered supply chain operations. Through a case study on the gasoline manufacturing and distribution supply chain (GMDSC), the effectiveness of the framework is verified. The results show that the framework can establish a resilient supply chain, ensure accurate execution of activities throughout the entire supply chain lifecycle, enhance real-time monitoring and dynamic adjustment capabilities, and effectively solve problems such as complex supply chain management, data inaccuracy, and difficult integration of multiple systems.
