[DigitalToday reporter Lee Ji-young] Naver Pay (Npay) said on Wednesday it has launched a new NFT-based community service on its non-custodial digital asset wallet, Npay Wallet.
Npay Wallet is a digital asset wallet service that allows users to securely store NFTs in the form of digital art. It can store various types of NFTs, including general art NFTs as well as tickets and certificates. The Npay Wallet Community is also based on NFTs, and users can join and interact in communities on a range of topics.
The ‘Npay Wallet Community’ consists of open community ‘channels’ where users can communicate by specific events and topics, such as the Jeju digital tourism pass ‘Nowda’ and game broadcasts on Naver’s streaming service Chzzk. It also includes closed ‘ticket verification rooms’ that only holders of tickets and related art (NFTs), such as KLPGA (Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association), can enter and use to communicate.
Npay Wallet Community is set to expand into various content areas, including sports, games and performances, based on NFTs. Starting on March 31, it plans to offer a participatory experience through a community event linked to Chzzk game broadcast coverage, enabling fans to communicate while watching games.
It also plans to operate communities for major sports and game events with Chzzk to build an immersive communication environment centered on users who have actually watched the events. It aims to expand later to entertainment events such as major concerts and to establish Npay Wallet as an NFT-based fandom community.
Naver Pay will also run an open event to mark the service launch. If users complete 3 types of missions in the Npay Wallet Community, such as liking posts, writing comments and creating posts, they can earn 1,000 won in Npay points. Among users who post after verifying NFTs they hold, selected users will receive additional points of up to 50,000 won through a draw.
Lee Mi-young (이미영), head leader for Pay Infrastructure & Business at Naver Pay, said, “Npay Wallet will expand beyond its digital wallet function for storing NFTs into a platform that also provides a community experience where various events and fandom activities take place.” She added, “We plan to continue introducing various events and features through the Npay Wallet Community so users can communicate actively.”
