Gleneagles Hospital Penang held a metaverse health hunt and media tour, offering first-hand insight into its facilities and expertise.
This event, the first of its kind in the northern region, combined both virtual and on-site experiences.
Media representatives, working in pairs, participated in the hunt.
The event, themed “Value-Driven Excellence,” provided insightful information on key areas such as Patience Centred Care, Accurate Diagnosis and Personalised Care.
Participants also learnt about various departments including oncology, cardiology, orthopaedics and emergency care.
The teams had to navigate through sections, learning about each department while receiving secret numbers hidden in the posters to make up an eventual winning sequence of numbers.
It offered media partners an immersive experience into the hospital’s innovative approach to healthcare delivery.
It also showcased how advanced technology was seamlessly combined with compassionate care.
The informative experience showed how every stage of the patient journey was guided by the principles of cost-effectiveness, clinical excellence and personalised care.
Media representatives were then taken on a guided tour to view the hospital’s enhanced healthcare accessibility, efficiency and service quality.
Media participants also visited key centres including the Cancer Centre, Cardiac Centre, Emergency Unit and Imaging Unit for a closer look at the hospital’s services and how each unit contributed to delivering coordinated care.
The hospital then highlighted its focus on minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures, which reduced patient recovery time, among others.
Other key specialties include having performed over 8,000 heart surgeries to date, delivering more than 4,000 chemotherapy sessions and bone marrow transplants annually and being home to one of the largest orthopaedic teams in the region.
Gleneagles Hospital Penang acting chief executive officer Ng Bong Seng said, “This event highlights who we are and what we believe in as a hospital.
“It offers an immersive view of how we are shaping the future of healthcare through innovation, empathy and purpose.
“It is about making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients,” he said in his speech during the event and tour of the hospital.
Ng said value-driven excellence meant ensuring every step of the patient’s journey – from diagnosis to recovery – was guided by compassion, medical expertise and a strong focus on outcomes that matter.
“Our goal is to provide care that is high-quality, evidence- based, accessible and cost- effective.
“One of the key milestones has been the growth of our robotic- assisted surgery capabilities, with over 200 procedures performed to date,” said Ng.
“As you explore today’s metaverse health hunt and tour centres like our cancer, cardiac, emergency and imaging units, you will see how our teams work together to deliver coordinated, patient-focused care built on safety, quality and continuous improvement,” he said.
