Cover Shutting Down Hololive Holoearth Metaverse

Holoearth, a Cover metaverse designed to be a means to hold concerts for Hololive Vtubers, interact with perfprmers, and both take part in events and games, will shut down on June 28, 2026. All sales of premium currency ended immediately, and the user-created item sales and official premium item sales stop on June 3, 2026. There will be refunds, but that process won’t start until June 29, 2026.

Here is the official statement regarding the Holoearth metaverse closure. Project Lead Ikko Fukuda offered apologies for the situation and suggested the technology may be used again in the future. However, the developer didn’t explain why exactly it is being shut down.

Cover first brought up Holoearth back in October 2021, and at the time suggested it would be a branch of the Hololive Alternative project involving the Vtubers in alternative worlds and situations. A beta that offered a test of the chatting features opened about a year later in November 2022. Microtransactions were confirmed in April 2023. We started to see the beta used to celebrate and offer an extra virtual events with Hololive Super Expo 2024. The 1.0 launch of the project happened in April 2025.

Exact details about refunds aren’t available yet. The official page noted it will offer those for both the Premium HoloCoin and Creator Points currencies for the Hololive metaverse currencies. However, it will only applied to unused ones and not ones made just ahead of the cut-off. The period to apply for that will take place between June 29, 2026 and September 30, 2026.
