KB Financial Group said on May 3 that it had discussed potential cooperation in the blockchain sector with Pantera Capital, a US blockchain venture capital firm.
The two sides met on April 28 at KB Kookmin Bank’s headquarters in Seoul’s Yeouido district, where they shared views on global blockchain industry trends and KB Financial’s digital-asset business plans.
Pantera Capital, founded in 2003, is a blockchain-focused investment firm that launched the first Bitcoin fund in the US in 2013. The firm invests in both venture deals and tokens and currently manages about $5.2 billion in assets.
The companies also shared investment approaches and cooperation models proven in global markets. They discussed specific ways to work together as they expand fund management and investment.
A KB Financial official said the meeting with Pantera Capital would help the group strengthen its blockchain-based financial competitiveness and pursue new business opportunities globally.
