ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Town of Oneonta has put a stop to new data centers and cryptocurrency mining for the next year.
The Town Board approved a year-long moratorium at its meeting, following the introduction of the local law in March and a public hearing in April.
The moratorium affects County Road Nine, where a company called Eco-Yotta wants to build a data center.
The Department of State still needs to give final approval before the moratorium takes effect.
