HYPE is turning Arthur Hayes’ latest public wager into another market signal for Hyperliquid’s breakout run.
The BitMEX co-founder challenged Forward Industries (NASDAQ: $FWDI) chairman Kyle Samani to a $100,000 charitable bet that HYPE (CRYPTO: $HYPE) will outperform any current top-10 cryptocurrency in U.S. dollar terms through the end of the year. Samani accepted with Solana (CRYPTO: $SOL) as his pick, turning the exchange into a cleaner market narrative: Hyperliquid’s fast-growing onchain derivatives venue against one of the cycle’s most established high-throughput networks.
Hayes has been leaning into that comparison for months. He recently argued that Hyperliquid should at least overtake Solana before the bull run ends, and previously floated a $150 HYPE target for August 2026. The latest challenge lands after HYPE pushed into price discovery, breaking through the $65 and $70 levels before reaching a reported record of $74.18 on Monday morning.
More From Cryptoprowl:
The rally has moved faster than some technical warnings. Analyst Ali Martinez had previously flagged overheated momentum signals and the risk of a pullback toward lower support, but later said the bearish signals had been invalidated as HYPE continued to set new highs. His updated upside zones pointed to $97 and $163 if momentum extends.
Hyperliquid’s broader story has also shifted beyond a simple token rally. The decentralized perpetual exchange has become one of the strongest examples of onchain trading infrastructure gaining scale, with HYPE acting as the liquid market proxy for that growth. The token’s rise has already pushed it into the top-10 crypto conversation and added pressure to the Solana comparison Hayes is now making this cycle publicly.
The bet may not settle the Solana comparison, but it captures the bigger shift: Hyperliquid is no longer just a derivatives venue. It is now being treated as one of the cycle’s clearest altcoin tests.
Hyperliquid (CRYPTO: HYPE) is currently trading at $71.06 U.S. per digital token.
